Apprentice Plumber
Apprentice Plumber
Southampton City Council are proud to be offering local jobs for our local people. Apprenticeships are an exciting way to develop your career and be a valuable part of our future workforce.
As an apprentice you’ll be receiving practical and professional training right from the start. Working alongside experienced colleagues and mentors who will supervise your development and provide support and guidance throughout your training. You will have regular reviews with your manager, mentor and tutor so you know how you are doing and can gain support with any activities to help you progress.
Given our investment in your learning and progression, the hope is that on completion of your apprenticeship and vacancy permitting, we would be able to offer you a permanent role – however this will be subject to certain criteria and there is no guarantee.
An apprenticeship is a real job, with real responsibilities along with a competitive salary. An apprenticeship will provide you with many benefits including:
- On and off the job training
- The achievement of a nationally recognised qualification and the ability to earn while you learn in your chosen career path
- Access to the Hampshire Local Government Pension Scheme with Employer pension contributions
- Interest free travel loans and discounts.
- Employee Support Services
- Maternity/Paternity/Adoption leave
We are looking for a confident and self-motivated individual to join our Housing Operations team. Alongside your job you’ll be studying for a Plumbing Level 3. The apprenticeship is delivered via day or block release at college, so you will be spending four days at work and one day at college each week. If block release this will be a week at college and 3 weeks at work.
This post would be ideal for someone who is wanting to start a career, progress their career, or reskill. It would be advantageous if you have some basic experience/understanding or knowledge of the trade you are applying for. A good standard of Maths and English is ideally required (GCSE 4 / C or above), or the ability to gain a Level 2 Functional Skills qualification will be required as part of your learning.
As part of the recruitment process you will be required to go on a trial day with one of our trades people, therefore you will need to bring your own safety boots.
