Located on the edge of the city of Southampton, Springwell School is a designated day special school for children aged from 4 - 11 years with complex learning difficulties including speech and language disorders, autism, and challenging behaviours.
We are seeking a reliable and conscientious Cleaner on a permanent basis to join our friendly and enthusiastic site team. This role will work across both the main Springwell School site in Thornhill and the satellite site at Wood Close, Sholing.
The Role
This is an important role in ensuring our environment remains clean, safe, and welcoming for pupils, staff and visitors.
The successful candidate will be dependable, punctual and able to work both independently and as part of a team. They will take pride in their work, demonstrating a strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness. They will be organised, proactive and willing to follow instructions carefully. A positive attitude, good time management and a flexible approach to tasks are essential.
Previous cleaning experience would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided.
The hours of work, Monday to Friday, are:
7:00 am – 9:00 am AND 3:00 pm to 5.30 pm
Key Responsibilities
- maintain the cleanliness of the school to a very high standard
- undertake various cleaning duties
- operate powered cleaning equipment (vacuum cleaners, polishers) where appropriate
- contribute to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for children and adults
- adhering to Health and Safety regulations and requirements
- take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of pupils

About you
- have relevant cleaning experience, ideally within a school/business
- are energetic and physically fit in order to carry out a variety of cleaning duties
- excellent communication skills
- have enthusiasm, reliability and resilience
- are able to work in a team to a schedule, and use your own initiative
- understand the importance of confidentiality and safeguarding
- flexible to the changing demands of the post
