Independent Member to Audit Committee (15828)
Independent Member to Audit Committee
The council is seeking to appoint up to two Independent Members to its Audit Committee. The Audit Committee is a key part of the Council's corporate governance. It provides an independent, high-level focus on the audit, assurance and reporting arrangements that underpin good governance and financial standards.
The successful candidate will join five councillors who sit on the committee. The committee meets approximately six times per year. These meetings are held at the Civic Centre in Southampton, usually commencing at 5:00pm, lasting up to two hours. In addition to these meetings there will be a requirement to attend any associated training and development events.
The successful candidate must also:
- have local connections, and either reside within the City of Southampton or carry out the main part of your work or have other recognisable ties to the City.
- agree to abide by the Council’s Code of Conduct for Members and sign the Register of Interests.
- disclose to the council any matter that might damage its reputation or indicate a real or perceived conflict of interest with the role of the committee.
There is an annual allowance of £719 payable, which is in line with the approved members allowance scheme.
