This post will provide support to the team’s lawyers and to provide legal advice to Members and Officers of both Council’s. The post will primarily sit within the People and Courts Team and in particular, undertake legal work on Adult Social Care and Housing Team. This area of work will include private and public sector housing, trespass, antisocial behaviour, education, court of protection and mental health.
The post holder will need to have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be a great team worker, who is able to work under supervision and able to work with the competing demands of the team. The post holder must have an excellent level of IT literacy skills. The post will suit someone who is motivated and keen to progress and develop their legal skills in an environment where we are committed to supporting personal development through apprenticeships, qualification by alternative means as well as excellent in-house pastoral support alongside more traditional routes to legal qualifications.
Essential Qualification: a qualifying Law Degree/CILEx Level 6 (Legal Assistant) or a qualifying degree or equivalent and evidence of prior experience working in a legal services environment to meet the requirements for registration as an Apprentice Paralegal (Apprentice Legal Assistant).
Desirable skills and experience: previous experience working in a Local Government legal department or private legal practice or other Local Government department.
