Mechanical Technician (Compliance)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Permanent, Full Time, Mechanical Technician (Compliance) to join Southampton City Council (SCC) in the Asset Management Team.

About the team:

You will join the Risk & Compliance team at a time of significant change with an ambitious improvement programme underway.

About the role:

  • To undertake site monitoring duties for gas & mechanical installations, major refurbishment and repair projects across all Council domestic & corporate property portfolios.
  • To monitor contractors’ performance, undertaking such inspections as may be necessary.
  • To maintain up to date and accurate records and produce site reports related to projects.
  • To assist in the delivery of projects in accordance with all compliance regulations and British Standards.
  • Ensure consultants’ and partners’ compliance with SCC’s specification and policy procedures.

About you:

  • HND in Mechanical Engineering or Heating & Ventilation or similar relevant qualification to Level 2 NVQ or equivalent.
  • Experience of working in a Social Housing environment. (Local Authority or Housing Association).
  • Technical knowledge of domestic and commercial gas & mechanical systems, together with general engineering practices.
  • Good all-round IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Excel and an understanding of databases.
  • To be a competent communicator, both verbally and written, to a range of audiences (both individuals and to groups) at a variety of levels (i.e. tenants, officers, members etc).
