Social Worker Opportunities in Southampton
£34,728 - £38,890 pa (pro-rata if part time)
Are you ready to be the difference? If so, then Southampton Children’s Social Care and Early Help Services would like you to join us. We are looking to appoint the right people into a range of new roles across the directorate from Early Help to supporting children with permanency decisions who can be the difference in children and families’ lives across the City. With an ambition to become the first Child Friendly city on the south coast, we are passionate about understanding and supporting the needs and dreams of the children in Southampton.
Through participation activity, our children have told us that they want workers who listen and hear, respect them, follow through on what they say, and support them with opportunities. They say workers should make them feel trusting, individual, wanted and that someone is there. They want them to be their difference.

The Assessment Team
We are the difference because we undertake quality assessments of Children’s situations where they may be in need or have a need for protection. We undertake initial interventions and make careful judgements with children and families and partners about the next right steps and plans to support them or to keep their children safe.
The Protection and Court Teams (name change pending)
We are the difference because we work with children families and partners to implement child in need and child protection plans. We aim to build positive relationships with children and their families to work with them to achieve change and keep children safe within the family. Where needed to keep a child safe, we work with legal services to secure the child’s future through court work and permanency planning processes.
Looked After Children and Pathways Services
We are the difference because we ensure that our care experienced children and young people are given the support they need to be the best that they can be. We have high aspirations for them and build relationships with them so that they feel secure and safe. We work with carers, the virtual school and partners to create the best possible corporate parenting experience for our young people, with an aim to give them stability, safety, and permanence.
